Geared towards pistol mounted optics, those of you still shooting iron sights will still get a ton of good reps and muscle memory from this class. We will cover the core fundamentals of performance including: grip, body mechanics and positioning. Building on single target engagements, you will apply these concepts to transitions, presentations and movement during both dry and live fire drills. This intensive half-day class is designed to help you unlock performance potential through eliminating inefficiency. This class is not intended for beginners! Round count is 250-300.

Standby for the launch of our all-new Level 2 Defensive Shotgun class. Big Tony is back to teach our favorite, most-versatile and effective of firearms platforms. This class will comprehensively equip you with the knowledge and skills to cover ammo selection and performance, holds and presentations, semi vs pump considerations. recoil management and much more. Expect to be shooting on paper, cardboard, steel and even drywall and car doors to observe the awesome power and effects of your shotgun.

LEVEL 1 PRECISION SCOPED RIFLE: SEPT 12/13

Artifex has teamed up with Change of Behavior to bring our long-range shooters the chance to train with a phenomenal instructor with an impeccable pedigree. This is a fundamentals class, taught by Change of Behavior, which will cover core subjects of precision shooting over 2 days: rifle choice and caliber; ballistics; scope mounting and set up; scope and reticle theory; zeroing; application of fire, and use of the Kestrel and ballistic apps.

CQB: OCTOBER 3 & 4

Our brothers at Change of Behavior bring you this 2 day CQB course in a custom shoot house on private property. Location is off hwy 76 near the 15 in N County San Diego. We cover 2 man & 4 man entries dealing with dead space and hallways. This is the ultimate team building fun. Read and react, and test your skills. Instructors spent decades in special operations conducting these exercises.

Equipment needed is an Ar15 platform with a sling and eye protection. Any other gear you have is more than welcome to bring. A conversion kit bolt for your rifle and ammunition is provided.

Rentals are available upon request.

Vehicle DEFENSIVE pistol: OCT 10 @9 AM

Ben will lead this Artifex Academy class, starting with the principles of vehicle defense and how to set up your own vehicle, moving on to shooting techniques as they relate to the interior and exterior of vehicles. We will have various stations for you to work from including vehicles downrange for pairs of shooters to practice engaging targets through the windscreen and through side windows for lateral targets. For engaging targets through the windscreen we advise bringing an N95 or similar facemask. Round count is 250.

RIFLE REFRESHER: OCT 10 @ 2 PM

3 hours of fundamental rifle skills to cover ready positions, presentations, transitions and mag changes. For those who haven’t shot rifle in a while this is an invaluable refresher, and for those wishing to maintain currency, this is a great workshop to hone your skills. Round count is 200-250.

T.E.C.C.+ LIVE FIRE: OCT 24 @ 9 AM

Tactical Emergency Casualty Care equips responsible armed citizens with the knowledge and practical skills to manage life-threatening injuries in high-stress environments until emergency medical services arrive. Students will learn evidence-based techniques for controlling severe bleeding, managing airway emergencies, treating penetrating trauma, applying tourniquets and wound packing, and safely moving casualties when necessary. The course emphasizes rapid decision-making, scene safety, and integrating medical response with defensive situations. Through hands-on instruction and realistic scenarios, participants will build the confidence to provide immediate, potentially life-saving care to themselves, loved ones, or others during critical incidents. No prior medical experience is required. Class runs 9am-5pm.

LOW LIGHT DEFENSIVE PISTOL: NOV 7 @ 3 Pm - 8 PM

Continuing our Low Light classes for Winter, we’ve taken our Defensive Pistol syllabus and applied it to a low light setting. Starting with a remind and revise of the core techniques we’ll progress through static reps as the light fades into more dynamic shooting involving movement, cover and aperture shooting using hand held and mounted lights. Please note this is not a beginner class - shooters who are solid and safe intermediates or beyond are welcome to attend. Round count is 250.

DEFENSIVE RIFLE/PISTOL: NOV 21 @ 9AM - 2PM

This is a 5-hour rifle/pistol class working on your AR as your primary platform, with transitions to pistol as dictated by malfunctions, space limitations, or other factor. This is one of our flagship classes with no short cuts. You need rep after rep to build the correct muscle memory for efficiency in your drills from manipulations to transitions. This class will establish those skills and pathways. Round count is 250 rifle, 150 pistol.

END OF YEAR FUN SHOOT: DEC 12 @ 1 PM

The last class of 2026! The plan is to empty the shed of anything worth shooting, set it up downrange, and get serious about getting reps in while having fun. We will have steel challenges on the Texas star and the spinner, as well as some epic duels on the dueling tree. Our moving target system will be shuttling back and forth as well as our paper swinging targets. Once we’re done and packed up we’ll head to Revolution Weapon Works in Anaheim for a beer and food at Pfeiffers. Round count is 250-300, unless you miss a lot..

DEFENSIVE PISTOL

One of our flagship classes, combining movement, manipulation, dynamics, multiple target arrays and a blend of competitive and tactical techniques to vastly improve your shooting. Improving your performance is where reps, trigger time and experience meet to raise your training standards so that the following key areas improve: efficient presentation of your handgun on target, recoil management so you shoot more effectively, manipulation to keep your gun up and in the fight, and movement to engage targets from the most advantageous position while making yourself harder to hit. Bring safe handling skills and a knowledge of your firearm and you will be welcome to this class!

DEFENSIVE CARBINE

Taught by Ben, Jeremy or Tony, each bringing their own unique experience, these classes take the same principles from our Defensive Pistol series and apply those to rifle shooting. This is no ordinary line-shooting class, so expect to work from multiple barricade apertures, learn to move into and out of shooting positions, work in confined spaces, engage multiple target arrays and seamlessly keep your rifle in the fight - all while maintaining impeccable weapons safety and awareness.

Tony or Ben are your instructors here, both with a wealth of shotgun experience. This is a physically demanding class from maintaining perfect weapons safety all while moving and reloading. There is no doubt that shotgun requires the greatest input from the shooter to keep the platform fed and functioning, all while navigating complex target arrays and shooting positions..

LOW LIGHT PISTOL

Ambient lighting conditions are a game changer where your pistol skills are concerned. Building muscle memory and improving your single-hand shooting are just the start of making you an effective adversary in the dark. We run small low-light classes to ensure maximum trigger time for shooters, and use a combination of steel and paper targets along with barricades and other environmental factors to test your abilities and develop this crucial skill set.

BEGINNER HANDGUN

We’ve been hosting this class since our foundation, and there is no better introduction to shooting. We designed this class to be a progressive-stage development of the fundamental skills needed to safely shoot your handgun: firearms safety, manipulation, dry fire reps and live fire practice. Many of our beginner students have gone on to purchase their own firearms and from there have progressive through our intermediate class into our Defensive and Performance Pistol classes.

VEHICLE BASED DEFENSIVE PISTOL

Ask yourself where are you most likely to be when confronted with a life threatening situation. This class will introduce you to the particular challenges that come with operating within, around and outside vehicles. Taught by Ben or Mike, who each have a wealth of experience from operational deployment of these skill sets, you’ll look at how to set up your own vehicle, and move on to shooting techniques as they relate to the interior and exterior of vehicles.
